Busy but not chaotic, tidy but not boring, Parma is beautiful and efficient. With its about 200 000 inhabitants it is a medium-sized city, where riding a bike is the ideal way to move around. The peaceful countryside is enclosed by the fascinating Po valley to the north and the woods of the Apennines to the South, while the Ligurian sea is only an hour drive away. Parma has high quality of life, thanks to the University, which has an active role in the city, the florid economic activities, especially the food industry and the typical pleasure for life of the inhabitants of Emilia Romagna. From 2003, Parma has been the location of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). In 2015, Parma obtained the UNESCO label of “Creative City of Gastronomy”. |
